VCT 2024 kick-off tournaments to take place in February with Masters Madrid following in March

The VCT 2024 season is fast approaching, and now we know exactly when to expect each league’s kick-off tournament.

Riot Games gave us our first look at the VCT 2024 calendar in August, during Champions 2023. They let us know about the VCT 2024 kick-off tournaments, the league splits, the Masters tournaments, and a rough estimate of when the year's championship event will take place.

Now, we've got confirmation on the start of the upcoming season. All four VCT international leagues will have their short kick-off tournaments take place in February. We've also been given dates for Masters Madrid, which teams will be fighting to qualify for during the kick-off.

VCT 2024 will be vastly different than 2023. New teams enter through Ascension in VCT Americas, EMEA, and Pacific. And a brand-new league has been introduced with the VALORANT Champions Tour China officially joining with 10 teams.

Per Leo Faria, Global Head of VALORANT Esports, his team loved starting the 2023 year with a tournament. The LOCK//IN format was a one-off, though, but he expressed how he looks forward to every year starting with a tournament of some sort.

That begins with the VCT 2024 kick-off tournaments. Each league has a separate start date, which are as follows:

  • Americas: February 16, 2024
  • Pacific: February 17, 2024
  • EMEA: February 20, 2024
  • China: February 22, 2024

The VCT 2024 kick-off tournaments will see two teams from each of the four leagues qualify for Masters Madrid.

Following the announcement of the VCT 2024 kick-off tournament dates, we were given the dates for Masters Madrid. Clear your calendars from March 8 through March 24.

The first Masters tournament of the year brings us into the start of spring, as eight teams fight in the latter half of the event at the Madrid Arena. In a format new to VALORANT, they'll take part in an opening Swiss Stage and then hope to survive the familiar double-elimination bracket.
