VALORANT has officially joined the dozens of games being played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Esports World Cup.

Surprise surprise. Or maybe not so surprising, as it was leaked in a document a short while ago. Get ready to plant the Spike in Saudi Arabia, with VALORANT being played at the Esports World Cup starting in 2025.

It joins other Riot Games titles League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics. This expands the partnership between the EWC Foundation and the developer, Riot Games. It also includes a commercial partnership, where LoL Esports, VCT, and TFT LAN events will feature in-broadcast activations.

The agreement between the Esports World Cup and Riot Games ensures VALORANT and the company's other leading esports titles participate for at least the next three years.

With an expanded VALORANT competitive schedule compared to 2024, there's room for more than just the main VCT. Because of last year's conflicting calendar, VALORANT could not take part in the EWC, and that changes with 2025.

“Riot Games has shaped the cultural impact of competitive gaming, transforming esports into a global entertainment force. With League of Legends’ iconic World Championship - which continues to set new standards for immersive experiences, VALORANT’s cultural collaborations, and Teamfight Tactics’ community-driven events, Riot has pioneered an ecosystem far beyond competition.

"By bringing these titles to the Esports World Cup, we are not just celebrating elite gameplay - we are, together, expanding esports as a global entertainment movement, creating deeper connections with fans across gaming, music, and digital culture.”

With Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag, co-founder and CEO of 100 Thieves, at the forefront of the marketing and announcement, we will more than likely see 100 Thieves compete at the EWC. We'll have to wait on any other invites or qualifiers, though.

This may give other organizations not directly in the VALORANT Champions Tour partnership program an incentive to create rosters for the Esports World Cup. As they'll compete in dozens of titles for the coveted Esports World Cup Club Championship.
