This is the fourth official VCT event taking place in EMEA after Reykjavik, Berlin and Copenhagen.

Riot Games kicked off its franchised league in 2023 with the VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paolo event. The tournament was the first VCT event in Brazil and was a massive success. But there will be a few changes next year.

First and foremost, there is no KICK//OFF event that was exclusive to 2023. Replacing the VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paolo event will be two-week competition for each region. The best teams from these events will qualify for Masters Madrid.

There are also significant changes to the Challengers scene. In an effort to improve the popularity and viability of the Tier 2 scene, Riot has changed the format and duration of these events. From year-long competition to a new affiliate system that allows VCT teams to partner with Tier 2 orgs, VALORANT esports will bear a new look in 2024. To round out the esports ecosystem, Riot introduced the Premier mode earlier this year, which acts as the grass-roots qualification for players interested in going pro.
