Fans and players have long called for nerfs to Tejo in VALORANT, and Riot Games is finally answering those demands with patch 10.09.
On April 30, VALORANT Studio Head Anna Donlon announced that the team will soon implement nerfs for the agent Tejo. Shortly after, live designer Ryan Cousart took to the official VALORANT TikTok account to break down the specific changes coming to the agent.
Tejo's nerfs
Players have been requesting a nerf for Tejo since his release. This long-awaited adjustment is finally set to arrive with patch 10.09, and the response on social media has been overwhelmingly positive. You can check out the video detailing Tejo's nerfs on VALORANT's official TikTok account.
Rockets
Unlike what happened before, Tejo's rockets and one of the strongest abilities in his kit will make players think twice before using the ability. Instead of having to free rockets with a cooldown, you'll now have to earn that second cast. Not only that, but the rockets are no longer rechargeable with a cooldown. If you use them, there is no getting them back until the next round.
- Spawn with one rocket, can purchase a second for 150 credits
- Map range reduced from 55m to 45m
- Rocket cooldown has been removed

Ability costs
Another nerf is coming to Tejo's drone cost, which is a very useful tool for gathering information during rounds. Now, Tejo is seeing his drone getting nerfed from costing 300 to 400 credits. The Special Delivery ability will have its price decreased from 300 to 200 credits. "Our goal is to ensure that the game still feels like a tactical shooter first", Ryan explained.
- Drone: 300 to 400 credits
- Special Delivery: 300 to 200 credits
Ultimate
Tejo's ultimate will keep its range and damage the same. However, the nerf involves increasing the points needed to unlock the ultimate. Instead of eight points, you will now need nine.
Tenz comments on Tejo's nerfs
Tyson "TenZ" Ngo was among several pro players who commented on the nerfs to Tejo. He stated on X, "Chef's kiss, I really like these changes." He explained, "Now, players have to actually think about how to use the rockets instead of just blindly using them for any situation. This also addresses a lot of issues with players trying to escape post-plant, as you must consider whether to use the rockets for securing the site or for post-plant tactics, but not both". The retired player praised Riot Games for the decision to nerf Tejo and for finding a way to counter his rockets by encouraging Tejo's players to bait his abilities.
