Sentinels vs. G2 Esports – VCT Americas Kickoff 2025 Upper Final: G2 is heading to Masters Bangkok!

We are slowly making our way to Masters Bangkok. Teams are starting to qualify with the first from the Americas region about to be decided. We've got Sentinels vs. G2 Esports in the VCT Americas Kickoff 2025 Upper Final.

Both of these teams have looked absolutely fantastic in this early portion of the year. And this match should be a banger, as the kids say. Massive firepower versus massive firepower will be on display, so let's get into the action.

Both teams have bit of a new look in 2025. For G2, they simply added a world champion in the form of Jawgemo. No big deal right? He immediately slotted in and performed as you'd expect. The Jawgfather has arrived.

For Sentinels, two of the game's greatest players departed. Both Sacy and TenZ retired, leading to the acquisition of bang and N4RRATE. It'd be hard to fill those shoes, right? Apparently not, as both Zellsis and zekken believe the team can perform better than their 2024 version.

We'll see if they're right when Sentinels vs. G2 Esports takes place. The stakes are high with a spot at Masters Bangkok on the line. For the loser, they'll drop to the Lower Bracket with one last chance to qualify. And honestly, this could very well just be a preview of our Grand Final.

G2 wasted no time getting a round on the board with the pistol. The next two were easily theirs on Attack, as SEN could not make anything happen during the bonus. Another round for G2 and SEN called their first timeout. It didn't help as Jawgemo slammed them with a 4K on Yoru.

Sentinels got their first round after G2 already reached their sixth. SEN would not be able to string rounds together as a JonahP 3K shut them down. Don't count the red and black out, though, as a Thrifty got them to two. No matter what SEN tried, G2 just felt unstoppable heading into halftime with the lead.

The second half pistol was a back and forth battle with both Zellsis and trent scoring 3Ks. SEN came out on top in the end. Give them another as G2 chose to keep their economy intact. It paid off as SEN could not convert the bonus. A Flawless round pushed G2 to 11.

Despite a top notch 4K from Zellsis, match point was inevitable for G2. Jawgemo stuck the defuse as valyn defended him. SEN's luck continued for a bit, as leaf got an Ace with Chamber's Ult even though they didn't get the round win. Eventually, a huge Thrifty by G2 put the nail in the coffin for Map 1.

Sentinels started off much better on their map pick, taking the pistol and only losing one player. They'd take the next, but a 3K from valyn shut down the SEN bonus. G2 began to get theirs, especially when Jawgemo got a 4K and the Ace was stolen by a trent Shock Dart.

A Thrifty Clutch followed that round, but in favor of Sentinels when they shouldn't have even sniffed victory. They did not manage to pull away, as G2 kept things close. Soon enough, G2 moved ahead before the half. A smooth retake by G2 got them ahead by two rounds as they switched sides.

The second half of Pearl started with G2 taking the pistol round and extending their lead by three. Soon, it'd be by four and the body-shooting continued. It wasn't long before G2 reached double digits and looked to punch their ticket to Masters Bangkok.

They haven't dropped a single map during Kickoff 2025 and that did not change here. G2 stormed onto A Site for a free plant as leaf baited them by B. That got them to series point as trent snagged a 4K. And just like that, G2 is your first Americas rep at Masters.
