Envy will move forward into the VCT Masters Berlin semifinals after taking down the reigning VCT Masters Reykjavik champions Sentinels.

When Sentinels initially were drawn into the quarterfinals against Envy, many were expecting a 2-0. However, none were expecting the 2-0 to be in favor of Envy as the NA Third seed take down the reigning VCT Champions. Now, Sentinels are eliminated from VCT Masters Berlin to NA 3rd Seed Envy after claiming they purposely threw their group for second seed.

Envy with a game plan

Entering the series as heavy underdogs to the reigning VCT Masters Champions, Envy displayed pure understanding of their opponents tactics. Throughout the series, it felt as if Envy were always one step ahead of the Sentinels as they were on top of their opponents signature map pick of Haven.

Sentinels were beginning to come back on Haven after Envy acquired an early lead before the underdogs were able to close out the game in overtime.

However, nerves did not show on the second map of Split for Envy as the team held a 7-5 lead at halftime. That lead only got worse once Envy player Victor made a 1v2 pistol clutch, ultimately leading to Envy grabbing 11 rounds.

Now, Envy will move forward into the VCT Masters Berlin semifinals where they have the opportunity to control their fate against 100 Thieves.

G2 Nukkye on Sentinels

At Reykjavik, they showed utter dominance, at Berlin, it was a different story. After starting off strong in Group D, they ultimately lost their first seed to G2 Esports after losing 2-0 to the EMEA team.

While the Sentinels initially made claims of intentionally throwing for the second seed, G2 believes there is more to the Sentinels failing to top Group D especially after their 2-0 against the Sentinels.

“They've played the same way the past four or five tournaments. They haven't changed anything, so we don't see them as a problem anymore.” Nukkye states. “That's the facts, we'll continue destroying them.”

G2 will face Gambit in the semifinals of VCT Masters Berlin in what was meant to be a match to paly the Sentinels in the finals. However, it appears that the stakes for the EMEA semifinal will be for a different North American team.

Now that the Sentinels are out of contention for the championship title in Berlin, a new winner will be crowned the champion of VCT Masters Berlin.

Envy will move forward into the VCT Masters Berlin semifinals to face 100 Thieves in a high stakes semifinal matchup. The winner of this semifinal will not only make it into the VCT Masters finals, they will also secure their spot at VCT Champions.

VCT Masters Berlin will continue tomorrow with the two semifinal matchups to see who will hoist the trophy in Berlin. One thing is for certain, that team will no longer be the Sentinels.
