During a post-match press conference, esports.gg asked JonahP of G2 Esports to follow up on previous comments about Paper Rex.

G2 Esports put on a show against Paper Rex with a 2:0 victory. The team admitted that PRX looked fundamentally better compared to their Masters Shanghai, but we still had to ask Jonah "JonahP" Pulice about his comments during the group draw after the VCT Americas Stage 2 Grand Final.

The random draw paired G2 and PRX together in Group D, with EDward Gaming and FUT Esports. After that draw, he labelled Paper Rex "bigger chokers" than his team. In a post-match press conference at VALORANT Champions 2024 in Seoul, we heard his thoughts.

On paper, no pun intended, it was a much closer match during Masters Shanghai. G2 won that 2:1. In between maps one and two during this Champions contest, however, G2 coach Josh "JoshRT" Lee mentioned he felt PRX were playing much better this time around.

So, we brought that up to JonahP in regards to his comments about PRX. Did he personally feel like they were performing better? Did he feel as though G2 just outplayed them in this one, or did their choking habits hinder them yet again?

The opening of his response was not picked up as the press conference mics were muted for a portion of his answer. Here is what was picked up:

"I think they got better, but we just were better. It was a 2:0 this time instead of a 2:1... I think we just outclassed them. I don't think we ever gave an opportunity for them to choke. I think we were just in control of the whole game. We had the opportunity to choke, but we didn't. So, yeah, it was a great game."

JonahP and G2 Esports move on to the Winner's match of Group D. That puts them just one win away from making the VALORANT Champions 2024 Playoff bracket. And if you've got them in your Pick'Ems to place first in their group, this is a wonderful start for you.
