What is VALORANT Error Code 45?

VALORANT error 45 occurs when there is a problem with the running of Vanguard application on your PC. On most occasions, this does not occur, however on the rare occasions it does occur, it can be quite frustrating. 

Thankfully, the error code has a short and relatively quick fix. Following through with a simple few steps can ensure you can go back to enjoying the game with your friends.

How to Fix VALORANT Error Code 45?

There are a few ways to fix VALORANT Error code 45 which we have outlined below. The error code is usually due to problems with the Vanguard application. As such the usual fixes are to restart VALORANT, Reinstall Vanguard or to completely Reinstall VALORANT. In the vast majority of the cases, we have


Restart VALORANT

The first and quite often the most easiest step is to simply restart VALORANT. Since the VALORANT Error Code 45 occurs due to a faulty runtime of Vanguard, there might be instances where VALORANT’s interaction with the anti-cheat might not be as it should be. 

Right Click on Start Button and go to Task Manager

As such, restarting VALORANT might be the solution to your problem. This step is usually also very quick and does not require any significant commitments. An extension of this method is to do a PC restart, which might also work. 

Reinstall Vanguard

If restarting VALORANT does not work, there is a problem with the Vanguard files on your computer. In such situations, reinstalling VALORANT should solve the issue without any problem.

Follow these steps to reinstall Vanguard

  1. Click the System Tray Icon and exit Riot’s Vanguard
  2. Click Start Button
  3. Go to Settings
  4. Then Apps
  5. Search for Rio vanguard
  6. Click Uninstall
  7. Open VALORANT

Once the system detects you do not have Vanguard installed, it will automatically prompt you to install the anti-cheat. Just follow through the installation process to install Vanguard again. 

Reinstall VALORANT

Most of the VALORANT Error Code 45 are fixed with the above two steps. However, in some cases, after repeated attempts, it has been observed that the error code does not go away. In such situations, we recommend completely reinstalling VALORANT.

  1. Uninstall VALORANT
  2. Go to the official VALORANT website
  3. Sign in to your existing Riot Games account
  4. Click the Play Free button
  5. Select Download on the following page
  6. Open the VALORANT installer once the download is complete
  7. Complete the installation of VALORANT and Riot's Vanguard anti-cheat program
  8. Open VALORANT, sign in with your Riot ID and play

These steps should fix the VALORANT Error code 45 and allow you to enjoy the game to its fullest.
