All or Nothing time for Global Esports
Week 6 is in full swing in the Pacific League, and right now all eyes are fixed upon the fate of Global Esports. Having only managed one win across five weeks of competitive play, the Indian organisation now find themselves in a do or die scenario. They have shown themselves capable of giving the bigger teams in the league a run for their money, with many of their players putting on some impressive displays of skill. Unfortunately for Global, they have had a torrid time turning those performances wins. And their task will be made that much more difficult today, as they come up against the overwhelming might of this Gen.G team.
Gen.G hit a bit of a speed bump curtesy of their loss to DRX in Week 5. Though they were the losing side against their fierce rivals, Gen.G have looked just as fearsome as their counterparts this season. Not to mention they currently stand as the only team within the Pacific League to have taken a map off DRX. They find themselves up against a very different sort of opponent with Global Esports, who are much more fluid with their play-calling compared to DRX. But given everything that is at stake for Global in this match, we are left to wonder just what sort of plan they will have in store for this highly orthodox Gen.G side.

Global come out swinging on Pearl
We begin the match with a trip to Pearl, curtesy of Global Esports. Gen.G opts to utilize a double controller, double initiator team composition whereas Global decides to only use a single controller in the from of Monyet's Astra.
Global Esports takes the opening pistol round of the map, but Gen.G respond with the first eco-round as well as their bonus round. The game descends into a bit of a scrap, but Gen.G maintain an early advantage at 4 - 3. Prompting GE to use their first timeout of the map. The pause looks to have initially benefitted Gen.G as they continue to stretch their lead. But GE show some serious signs of life on their defense as they begin to really push their opponents. Gen.G still manages to take a 7 - 5 lead into halftime.
GE takes the second pistol round of the map and are able to take the anti-eco this time to tie the map up again at 7 - 7. The teams scrap it out once more, but it is Global who take a significant advantage on the map in this half as they hit the double digit mark at 11 - 8. Forcing Gen.G into using their second timeout of the match with their economy in tatters. But from the start of this map their was really only one team who was in control of this contest. And unsurprisingly, it was Global Esports who were dictating the pace on their map pick with their aggressive play-calls. Enabling them to take Pearl 13 - 8 and give themselves a 1 - 0 lead in the series.

With Global Esports coming out on top on Pearl, we now head to Gen.G's map pick of Lotus for the second game of this series. The teams go for a near-mirror match in terms of roles, with the only difference being GE's Bazzi on Skye and Sylvan on Fade for Gen.G.
Gen.G take the opening pistol round, their first of the match, to give them the early advantage. But GE instantly bounce back to take the eco-round as well as their bonus to eclipse the lead. Gen.G are forced to burn their first timeout of the map fearing that the lead might spiral out of hand. A pause which proves beneficial as they finally come up with an answer to GE's non-stop aggression. GE come out rejuvenated from their timeout and their lead stretches to three rounds. With SkRossi pulling off an Ace in the process on Round 9. But Gen.G are able to cut the lead down to 7 - 5 to minimize the damage from the first half.
Global Esports continues where they left off from the first half by taking the opening couple of rounds in the second half. And they hit the 10 round mark soon after as things begin to spiral out of Gen.G's control. The Korean side answers back with two rounds of their own. And though GE are able to stretch the lead again, their dwindling economy gives Gen.G a renewed sense of hope on Lotus. But a 4k from SkRossi turns that hope into pure desperation as GE hits match point at 12 - 8. We knew they were going to need something special coming into this matchup, and Global Esports certainly came up with the goods with their backs against the wall. With their efforts culminating in a 13 - 8 win on Lotus to close the series out 2 - 0 and keep their playoff hopes alive.
