GenG vs Team Secret – VCT Pacific Kickoff: GenG one step closer to playoffs

After a gruelling few days of Group Stage matches, the VALORANT Pacific Kickoff is now in the next stage of gameplay. Three teams will battle it out in the Play-in stage to decide which team advances ahead to the playoffs. The first match in this series was GenG vs Team Secret. Here’s how it played out.

GenG was part of Group C along with Paper Rex and RRQ. The team won its first match against RRQ with a 2-1 score. The next one was the series that would have always been a tough battle for them. GenG lost to PRX on the third map, but they had another rematch against RRQ. This time, they had a similar result (a 2-1 victory) against RRQ to qualify for the Play-In. 

Meanwhile, Team Secret had a relatively better performance in Group B. Granted they did not top the group, but, they were able to win against Talon esports in the match when it mattered the most. They had initially lost to Talon to go down to the elimination match, but a 2-0 victory over DFM meant they had one more opportunity to quaily.

While this victory does not help GenG Qualify for the playoffs, it puts them one step closer to doing so. The VCT Pacific Kickoff Playoffs take place over two days from February 24 - 25 and will have four teams in competition. The Playoffs will feature a single-elimination format with all matches being best-of-three series.
