GenG and RRQ face off at VCT Pacific Kickoff

RRQ started Icebox by winning the first three rounds of the map. While GenG bounced back once they figured out the RRQ defenses. The first half ended in an even 6-6 score.

Icebox was a very close map with both teams barely managing any lead. T3xture had an impressive showing on Icebox with a 377 ACS score and a 1.54 rating. With 33 kills on the map, he was a key factor for GenG’s performance on the defense.

With this victory, GenG had a one-map lead in the series. Icebox was RRQ’s map of choice and the second map - Split - was GenG’s map of choice.

On Split, RRQ had a better start, winning the first three rounds. They had an incredible performance on the defense to bring on a big lead. On the second half, GenG almost managed to secure a successful comeback. They won the first seven rounds in the second half to bring the score to 9-10. However, RRQ managed to clinch the map to take the series to Map 3.

The third map saw GenG march ahead to a 8-4 lead in the first half. They even won the second pistol round further extending their first-half lead. While RRQ managed to secure three rounds, it wasn't enough. GenG won the series 2-1 and are now one series victory away from the playoffs.

GenG now secured itself a sizeable lead in the group stage. With a double-elimination format, GenG requires just one more victory (against PRX) to secure a spot in the playoffs. Meanwhile, RRQ will face off against the loser of PRX and GenG in the final elimination match.

The VCT Pacific Kickoff started on February 17 and will continue till February 25, 2024. The event features 11 teams with a GSL format round-robin group stage. The playoffs will have a single-elimination format. The top two teams at the event will qualify directly to Masters Madrid 2024 that takes place later this year.
