In a post-match press conference, G2 mimi gives insight into how Gozen’s team composition worked on the map Sunset.

G2 Gozen are the defending Game Changers Champions. They're back and off to a great start in the 2023 tournament. In the opening contest, they selected the newest VALORANT map, Sunset, against Team Liquid. It ended in a close overtime victory, and after the series we asked G2 IGL Michaela "mimi" Lintrup about the composition played.

G2 mimi says G2 Gozen is just trying things out, but enjoying Sunset so far

With Sunset being new to competitive VALORANT, there hasn't been much of a chance for experimentation outside of scrims. So, naturally everyone was excited to see the map picked to start the VCT Game Changers Championship 2023.

It has been noted that role changes were made for G2 Gozen, and this was the first we would see of it. The team brought in Skye, Omen, Viper, Cypher, and Raze to Sunset. And the composition, according to G2's mimi, is one that focuses on individual strengths, but is not set in stone.

We asked her to elaborate on just how innovative she believes the comp is, as well as any strengths and weaknesses the team has found in that comp. Here's what she had to say in the post-match press conference:

"We have definitely thought very hard with our comp. I don't want to say too much about what the strengths and weaknesses are. Because we might be on Sunset in the tournament again. But we are playing on our own personal strengths, rather than what is actually the best comp for Sunset.

"There's another comp that is the main comp, but I think we are just trying out things. It's not really anything set, too much. We're just adapting to match to our enemies. Opponents obviously. Yeah, so far, we really like Sunset."

Of course, she didn't want to give away too much information regarding the composition. The chance that they'll play Sunset again in the VCT Game Changers Championship 2023 is high. Still, it's interesting to hear that they are doing their own thing and have taken a liking to the new map. Be on the lookout for them to try and squeeze Sunset into the map selection, perhaps even with a change in Agents.
