FNC kaajak spoke about re-signing with the team, his growth since his 2025 debut, and the chance to showcase more of his Neon on stage.
Kajetan “kaajak” Haremski has re-signed with FNATIC (FNC) until 2028. Despite a challenging season marked by multiple second-place finishes, the Polish player still believes the organization is “the best option” for him.
In an interview with esports.gg following his win over Team Vitality, kaajak discussed the Yoru nerfs, finally getting to play Neon on stage, his growth since debuting last year, and the strong relationships he has built with his teammates.
FNC kaajak: Yoru’s number one hater
For many duelist players, the latest Yoru nerfs have been painful, with the agent becoming less viable in competitive play. But for kaajak, it may have been the opposite because nothing better could have happened. “I feel amazing because I don’t have to play that agent anymore. It was so boring, honestly,” he laughed. “I can just play Neon, or even Waylay. Well, probably not Waylay because of the nerfs, but Neon is super fun to play.”
In the series against Eternal Fire, kaajak was seen on Waylay, but the agent has been slowly fading out as Neon rises to a 77% pick rate, while Waylay sits at just 29%. However, she remains the second most-picked duelist in the current meta. Raze and Phoenix still appear more situationally, with Raze commonly seen on Split, while Phoenix is more frequently picked on Haven and Pearl.
“I think Waylay will still be played on Pearl and maybe Lotus, but you’re starting to see her less,” kaajak said. “It’s a bit sad because I think she was a really strong agent, and I enjoyed playing with that powerful slow, and all the possibilities it created for both myself and the team. So I’m a bit disappointed with the nerfs,” he added.

Debuting and maturing
For kaajak, the Kickoff stage was challenging. “Kickoff was a bit rough, but I realized I need to have fun while playing. I have to enjoy it, just going to the office every day, embracing my role, making jokes so the boys can laugh and enjoy the game as well,” he explained.
Only one year has passed since his Tier 1 debut, but kaajak believes he has grown significantly. “I’ve improved a lot, gained experience, and matured because I think differently in certain situations. There’s still a lot of room for improvement, though,” he said. “I think this year started pretty slow, so I’m getting back on track, and this game was particularly important to me. Yesterday, I thought all I needed was one good game to bounce back, and this match against Vitality really gave me that confidence boost.”
Since his debut, kaajak has been very open about his inconsistency and how it has affected his gameplay in crucial moments. Now, he feels like that is not a problem anymore. “Sometimes you will kill, sometimes you won’t, and that’s how the game works. You can improve by being consistent in the communication, giving ideas, and being proactive on the map, for example,” he explained. “If I can’t kill, I will do something to help the team.“

The second-place curse
In the 2025 season, FNATIC finished second in three different international finals, leading some fans to wonder if the team was “cursed.” For kaajak, however, there isn’t a single clear reason behind those results, though it’s something the team has actively worked on.
“We had some sessions with our performance coach and talked a lot about it,” he said. “It felt like we placed second again at Kickoff, in a way. We had two opportunities and couldn’t make it to Santiago, so we definitely needed to address it. I don’t know if it’s pressure in finals or something else. I hope it’s not something we’ll deal with again.”
What made FNC kaajak re-sign with the team?
“FNATIC feels like a second home to me,” kaajak said. “I think it was the best option for me. When you look at the EMEA teams, you don’t see many stable rosters because there are constant changes. Fnatic feels very stable. The management is great. They really take care of the players and always try to fix problems as quickly as possible.” FNC kaajak has extended his contract with the team until 2028.
Before matches, and even during streams, FNATIC players are often seen sharing lighthearted, wholesome moments, giving fans plenty of content to enjoy. After so many “cute” interactions with his teammates, we asked kaajak who his real “babe” is on the team.
“It depends on the day,” he laughed. “Right now, I’d say Alfajer. He keeps saying he loves me, and I say it back, so I think we’re close. But it can change anytime. Veqi [Veqaj] and I are also building a bond, so maybe I’ll switch. We’ll see. His wife is not in Berlin right now, so I’m taking care of him, you know, so he doesn’t feel alone.”

FNATIC returns to the EMEA stage on April 17 to face PCIFIC. In the following weeks, they will be playing against GIANTX and BBL Esports.
