Welcome to Day 2 of VALORANT Masters Toronto Playoffs, where FNATIC and Gen.G clash for a coveted spot in the upper bracket.

The Playoffs kicked off with intensity, and this matchup is set to turn up the heat even more. It’s a clash between Fnatic, the VCT EMEA: Stage 1 champions, and Gen.G Esports, the Pacific #2 seed and one of the two undefeated teams from the Swiss Stage. Both teams are here to compete at the highest level, bringing not just skill but plenty of personality and showmanship to the stage.

Looking for revenge

The last time Fnatic and Gen.G met was during the Playoffs at Masters Shanghai 2024, where Fnatic fell short, and Gen.G went on to claim their first international title. Now, Fnatic returns with revenge on their minds, determined to reclaim their dominance as the lone European team in the tournament. Can they rewrite the story and secure a spot in the upper bracket?

FNC vs GEN: Match recap

Check out this section after the games to see the highlights of each map played.

Map 1: Haven

Both teams delivered an impressive performance on the map at the start of the battle. Gen.G began strong by winning the pistol round, but Fnatic quickly took control of the game, winning five consecutive rounds. The Korean team managed to secure two additional rounds, setting the stage for an exciting second half. Then, all we could see was Gen.G going for a great comeback.

Fnatic managed to win three rounds, igniting a flicker of hope, but Munchkin and t3xture were too inspired to let them take the first map on Haven. The first victory is Korean!

Map 2: Split

The outcome of the first map still left Fnatic shaken. They lost the pistol round once again but managed to secure the bonus right after. However, Gen.G was already on a winning streak. At a score of 3-8, one of the teams called for a tech pause, which wasted a significant amount of time during the first map. The fans had to wait more than ten minutes for the game to restart.

After a while, Gen.G won the 3-9 and ended the first half with a great advance. When fans were prepared to enter the second half, another Tech Pause was called. These pauses negatively affected the overall experience for both the players and the fans watching. After more than half an hour, it was announced that Riot was dealing with an in-venue outage, which led to a big pause in the game.

The game resumed after a significant break, allowing Fnatic time to reassess their strategy. They won the pistol round and were poised for a great comeback, which they are known for. But would they be able to pull it off?

Gen.G secured the bonus round, and the following round featured impressive teamwork that gave them a substantial advantage. Fnatic managed to secure one round, but t3xture was determined not to let them win another. Just when everyone thought Gen.G was on the verge of victory, a dramatic last-second save by Fnatic shifted the momentum in their favor.

The eco round was good for Fnatic to regain some control over the match and later draw the game. And the public was going crazy! Fnatic was able to come back and win the second map. What a crazy match!

Map 3: Sunset

The second map generated significant excitement for both teams. Gen.G began strongly, winning four consecutive rounds after losing the first. The second half concluded with a score of 4-8. Fnatic started good, won the first round, but was unable to win the eco again, which led Gen.G to a winning streak. Fnatic even got a round, but it was not enough to win the match. Gen.G took this victory home!
