DRX put on a professional display to progress to the next round.
It is DRX vs ASE in one of the opening matches of VCT Masters 2023. After falling short in the Pacific grand final, DRX is looking to maintain its strong international performances with a good run on Eastern soil. For ASE, this is the opportunity of a lifetime as one of the two Chinese squads competing at Masters Tokyo.
We are edging closer to the start of the first VCT Masters event since VCT LOCK//IN ahead of the 2023 season. DRX was able to again push the limits of their roster with an impressive top-four finish. DRX have had some ups and downs across the first Pacific split, but ultimately when push comes to shove they are experienced on the international stage and must not be counted out.

DRX secures a close map one on Fracture
In what was an entertaining game one DRX took the lead in this best-of-three. With ASE being an unknown entity on the international stage it was important for DRX to get off to a win in the opening map. This was on ASE's map pick as well and will pile on the pressure heading into map two on Pearl.
ASE looked very competitive and if they are to repeat a similar performance in map two they can leave with their heads held high. In the first half, DRX looked to be gaining control of the map after losing the opening two rounds. Kim "MaKo" Myeong-kwan put on a clinic in the opening half on Brimstone, putting up 14 kills for his side.
While ASE was able to put together a couple of rounds here and there, DRX always felt in control. Qu "Life" Donghao was the player dragging his squad through the game in the opening half. The duelist was one of the best players on the server with a rating of 1.31, with only MaKo having higher. Unfortunately, the young star from China was not able to replicate his impressive first-half performance down the street, seeing DRX take the lead in the series.
DRX secures the series with a solid win on Pearl
DRX booked their ticket to the upper bracket series after securing a solid victory on Pearl over ASE. Following the first map, it always felt like DRX were going to walk away from this series victorious heading into their own map pick. In recent times ASE has not performed the best on Pearl, meaning their backs were against the wall from minute one.
It was business as usual for DRX, the Korean side put together a strong 8-4 first half to put them in a firm position to close out the series. Byung-chul "BuZz" Yu and Goo "Rb" Sang-min put on a clinic in the first half with the pair having 34 of the 51 kills on DRX. The pair put up monstrous ratings with BuZz boasting a 1.75, and Rb going even higher with a 1.87.
It is back to the drawing board for Attacking Soul Esports. They had some decent ideas and were able to have competitive rounds. Unfortunately for them, they came up against a side that is on another tier right now.
