The Cloud9 and 100 Thieves match was always going to be a close affair. Despite losing 0-2 in their opening matches, they had both had exceptional performances, with 100 Thieves taking one of their map to overtime as well. The first map, Lotus, kicked off with three-round victories for Cloud9. 100 Thieves had bursts of round victories.

Despite the early headstart, Cloud9 only managed a four-round lead in the first half. They were helped largely by OXY who put up a stellar performance on his Raze. With 22 kills to his name by the end of Map 1 and a 185 ADR, OXY was crucial in Cloud9's performance on Lotus. However, Asuna's Raze on the other side was equally (if not more) impactful, managing 26 kills to his name. The first map ended with a relatively close 13-11 victory for 100 Thieves.

Sunset started with a much stronger lead for Cloud9. They were up 6-2 at one point in time before 100 Thieves managed to pull it back to a 6-6 scoreline. At half time, with a rather even 6-6 scoreline, the series victory was within grasp. However, Bang and Boostio had other ideas. The newest addition to the 100Thieves squad stepped up in numbers bragging 20 kills to his name. Sunset ended with a 13-11 victory for Cloud9.

The third and final map was Icebox. Icebox is a map that both teams are familiar with. However, the long OFF//SEASON means the two teams could surprise not only fans and opponents but also themselves with their performance. This time, 100 Thieves started strong, winning four rounds until Cloud9 managed to claw their way back to a 7-5 lead in the first half. The map was still relatively even as 100Thieves managed to swing it back in the second half. In Overitme, however, it was Cloud9 that emerged victorious surviving for the final day of the Ludwig x Tarik Invitational 2.

Cloud9 vs 100Thieves Preview

Facing elimination at the Ludwig x Tarik Invitational, both teams have their relatively new rosters put to the test. Earlier this year, 100T announced the addition of Boostio to their VALORANT roster. Boostio has been instrumental in Evil Geniuses’ success last year and his addition is a ‘Boost in the arm’ for 100T’s prospects this year. Another player who might show up in a big way for 100 Thieves is Daniel "eeiu" Vucenovic. The youngster joined 100 Thieves in November last year and although he hasn’t much official game practice with them, he has been around for a bit.

Meanwhile, Cloud9 haven’t had a lot of changes to their VALORANT roster. The stability in the roster is their biggest strength as they head into the elimination match of the Ludwig X Tarik Invitational 2024.

Cloud9 had a decent performance in their opening match of the tournament. Losing 0-2 to Moist x Shopify is not a great look, but they put up a competitive fight in both their map losses. 100 Thieves took Oxygen esports to overtime on Map 2, and it will be interesting to see how the two teams match up against each other. It is a battle of adjustment to stability as both teams have different problems to deal with.
