The 2023 Southeast Asian Games is the 32nd edition of the Games. It is hosted by Cambodia this year and is the third time that esports is a medal event at the tournament. The first time that esports was showcased as an event at the Olympics-affiliated games was in 2018 and has been a relatively consistent appearance since then.
While the format and the number of teams might leave much to be desired, esports' presence in such games is extremely important. It broadens the audience for competitive video games and increases prospects for esports' growth.
