100 Thieves survive nervy encounter with Heretics at Red Bull Home Ground Manchester

100 Thieves gets their Red Bull Home Ground campaign off the ground with a hard fought win over Heretics.

100 Thieves secured a hard-fought win over Heretics in an action-packed group stage matchup at the Red Bull Home Ground. Despite an early scare from a very impressive Heretics team, the North American side was able to clutch up when it mattered most to give themselves a strong start on their journey in Manchester. Here is how things went down at Red Bull Home Ground.

100 Thieves stave off early pressure from Heretics at Red Bull Home Ground

The match headed to Ascent for Map 1. And it was here that 100 Thieves faced some early adversity from Heretics as the teams traded the first seven rounds. But from that point on it was all about Heretics, as they raced away with a 9 - 3 lead after the first half of the map.100 Thieves made a valiant attempt to get back into the series. But their efforts were ultimately in vain as Heretics managed to close out the map 13 - 9. Heretics' Ricardas "Boo" Lukasevicius proved to be quite a handful for his opponents as he finished the map with an astounding 53% headshot rate.

100T answered back on Haven to tie up the series

Things were much closer between the pair as they moved on to Haven for Map 2. Despite the first half ending level at 6 - 6, 100T were starting to hit their stride. Their increased confidence was clear to see after the teams swapped sides, as they completely shut down Heretics' attack in the second half. Enabling them to take the map 13 - 9 and tie the series up at 1 - 1. "Stellar" made his presence felt across Haven as he finished the map with an impressive 1.40

NA is on the board with 100 Thieves' victory

With the match tied up, the teams headed to Fracture for the third and final map. While it was patchy at times for 100 Thieves, the NA team stood strong against Heretics. Amassing a narrow 7 - 5 lead in the first half in the process. The teams traded blows early in the second half as Heretics managed to tie up the map 8 - 8. But 100 Thieves kicked into high gear, as they ripped off four rounds in a row to hit match point. And despite Heretics' best efforts, in the end, it wasn't enough to stop 100 Thieves from taking the map 13 - 9, and the series 2 - 0.
