French fighter Victor Chevalier joins the fray in Tekken 8.
Even with Tekken 8 not scheduled for release until 2024, Tekken fans are eating well as a brand new character was just introduced for the game. Victor Chevalier, a Parisian assassin, will join the Tekken roster. The new French fighter was introduced on social media on November 2.
In the video, Victor shows off his abilities with a sword and gun. The founder of the elite Raven unit, and the United Nations’ independent force, this dangerous combatant seemingly trained Raven as well.
His stage, revealed in the video sees fighter spar on the deck of a barge on the river Seine, with Parisian landmarks drifting past.
Victor Chevalier, voiced by Vincent Cassel
Victor Chevalier is voiced (and appearance likely inspired by) French actor Vincent Cassel. Cassel has appeared in dozens of films, but is perhaps most well-known for his roles in Ocean’s Twelve and Thirteen, and Black Swan. The role of Victor Chevalier is Cassel’s first video game role, and he brings a gravitas and importance to the international assassin.
As per YellowMotion on Twitter, Cassel had this to say about the Tekken franchise: “I’ve discovered TEKKEN in the 1990s and I’ve really started picking it up when Eddy Gordo was introduced. He was doing capoeira and back then, so did I, so I was only playing with him,” said Vincent Cassel.
“What I like about Victor Chevalier is the fact that it’s a French character in such an internationally known game. In addition to that he is very sophisticated and promotes, through how he is and how he dresses, a certain idea of the French elegance. This, and the fact that I had been called to voice Victor lead me to be interested in the character.”
Victor Chevalier and the rest of the Tekken 8 roster will be available to the general public from January 26, 2024.
