New Midnight theme is what we’ve all been waiting for.

Discord has become an app that is not only prevalent but also a necessity across several gaming communities. While the desktop app is well-received, the mobile app has been at the end of community criticism. Part of this criticism has been towards the app’s cluttered feel and disarray. Today, Discord has launched a redesign for its mobile application that brings back the focus on messaging and speed.

What’s new in the latest Discord update?

Today’s Discord update adds significant changes to the mobile app experience. There are now different tabs for messages and servers. These tabs allow users to have a unique and separate experience for both.

Probably the biggest change and improvement is the global DM search function. The new search function allows users to search by DMs, attachments, images, and video. How is this different from the previous version? For starters, you don’t need to open the individual Direct Messages to search for anything within. You can use the Global search function to search for anything anywhere.

The app also loads significantly faster now which is a welcome relief to users. Over the years, after consecutive updates, the app speed was noticeably slow. The app was not as seamless as one would expect. With the new update, things load faster, allowing you to immerse yourself in the Discord experience just that much faster.

The company claims the app loads 55% faster on Android and 43% faster on iOs compared to earlier this year. With App crash rates also reduced by half, the Discord dev team has been doing some serious work on the mobile experience. While they won’t invent time travel with the faster app load speeds, they will certainly get more users on the mobile versions now.

The new OLED theme will bring a truly dark experience for Dark Mode users of the app. The previous version was a dark grayish theme. While it was enough to avoid the Light mode, it wasn’t truly a Blackout mode.
