The TFT World Champions Set 4 has come to an end. South Korea had a dominating performance. Here’s how 8LJaywalking won his first World Championship.

8ljaywalking beat Zyk0o in the Set 4 global TFT Fates Championship. The Korean player walks away with $41,500 in prize money, the largest in Teamfight Tactics competitive history.

8LJaywalking  was far from the favorite to win the Fates Championship before the event. South Korea as a whole received just three invites to the Championships behind Europe(6), China(5) and North America (4). The third day of the world finals was an exciting one with a constant tug-of-war between the European and Korean players. Despite a strong lead, ZyK0o could not finish the match and came in second.

As the best players from all across the world gathered to compete in the global championship, South Korean players pulled ahead with some excellent positioning and moves.

The final day saw all points reset for the top contestants. Players had to reach a threshold of 18 points which would place them on matchpoint. The first matchpoint player to win a game would secure the championship.

Former Heroes of the Storm player, SCSC got off to a strong start in Game 1 with a Duelist composition. But the Frenchman, Zyk0o, made a startling comeback in Game 2 with a Dragonsoul Mages composition. He carried his excellent form to win Game 3. He finished Game 3 with 26 points and was on match point, a breath away from winning the TFT World Championship.

The fourth game saw ZyK0o finish last throwing the competition wide open for the rest of the players. 8LJayWalking won game 4, securing ten points. 8LJayWalking  finished game 4 on 23 points, crossing the 18 point barrier to reach match point.

The fifth game saw players bringing out diverse compositions and it was a battle of strategy and playstyle. While the Korean players led, for the most part, ZyK0o had a late resurgence into the round. However, 8LJaywalking defeated ZyK0o with a 6-5 score with Kayle to win the game and clinch the title.
