It’s time to feel some early summer-time vibes in Street Fighter 6. Honestly, we were planning to just stay in the Battle Hub…

Street Fighter 6’s first limited-time DLC is here, and it's called The Early Summer Vibes Fighting Pass. Delivering a half dozen Avatar cosmetics, a photo border, a new classic game for you to play, an emote, music, titles, and more, it’s officially summer in SF6 thanks to this pack.

The pack was unveiled on Street Fighter’s official Twitter late on June 11, and promises some summer-time cosmetic fun for Street Fighter 6 players.

What do you get in the Early Summer Vibes Fighting Pass?

The Early Summer Vibes Fighting Pass is essentially a battle pass style system that's going to run for the next few weeks. Earn Kudos to level up your pass and earn the rewards. Kudos is the kind of overall experience you get for playing with fighters. In the Pass there's some free rewards, and some not-so free rewards. In the free rewards, there's some Fighter Rental tokens (useful to stockpile ahead of the DLC characters), some other cosmetics (an emote, a photo border), and at level 20, a big yellow ducky inner tube!

With the premium pass, you get rewards every level. Here’s a breakdown of what you get with the premium pass:

  • 5 pieces of Avatar Gear
  • 1 Photo Border
  • 1 Classic Game (Wings)
  • 1 Emote
  • 3 Stage musics
  • 3 Titles
  • 1 Device Wallpaper
  • 5 Stickers
  • Unnamed “Free Rewards” for World Tour

All this is yours for just 250 Fighter Coins (That’s $6.99 at the current price, but cheaper if you already have a heap of Fighter Coins). Is it worth it? Perhaps. These are pretty unique cosmetics and it doesn’t look like any of this stuff will be unlockable for free in the future.

Also this is only available for a limited time! It’s only on sale from June 12 to July 2. So if those shorts are calling for you, or you just can’t resist the rubber ring, act fast.

Is this what Street Fighter 6’s monetization will look like?

Besides the different game editions, season passes, and DLC characters, it looks like this the way Street Fighter 6 is planning to monetize. Honestly, it’s pretty harmless. There’s nothing game-breaking here (Although, we’re a little upset about not getting Wings included in the base game without DLC).

That said this kind of Avatar-centric DLC at least shows that Capcom is committed to that part of the game. Avatars are mainly used in World Tour and for Battle Hub shenanigans in the often horribly mismatched Avatar fights. But Capcom seems to have gambled and won with the Avatars. Just over a week into the game and the bizarrely proportioned Avatars with stumpy arms, barrel chests, and giraffe necks are becoming an endangered species.

Instead, players are taking to dressing up their Avatars in the hard-won spoils of World Tour and Drive Tickets. They’re wearing fancy jeans, and fashionable tops, with designer sunglasses. It seems people actually care about their Street Fighter 6 Avatars, and Capcom’s Early Summer Vibes Fighting Pass seems perfect to capitalize on that.
