Meanwhile, Kai Cenat towers over opponents as the most popular streamer across platforms.

For many years, Twitch has been the undisputed leader when it comes to live-streaming viewership. It still remains in the top spot in 2024, however, it is losing market share to other competitors. YouTube and Kick have both gained market share while Twitch has lost a significant portion as per the latest report by Stream Hatchet.

Twitch Losing Viewership Dominance

Compared YoY, Twitch’s market share has seen a near 10% decline. In Q2 2023, Twitch had over 70% market share. This has fallen to 60% as of this year. The decline in Twitch’s market share corresponds to an increase in Kick and YouTube Gaming. YouTube Gaming now holds the second spot with a 23% market share, a significant 6% jump over the past year. Kick has also seen a significant increase with a 5.5% market share and 462 million hours watched.

Kick and YouTube climb closer

It’s not just the market share, but Twitch has seen a decline in hours watched in this year so far. The Amazon-owned live-streaming company viewership dropped by 5%, being the only platform in the top five to lose viewership.

YouTube Gaming saw a 50% increase in viewership, while Kick had a phenomenal growth of 163%. Ofcourse, the baseline numbers for these two companies are much smaller compared to Twitch. YouTube viewership stands at 2 billion hours watched while Kick is at 462 million hours watched. Interestingly, Steam also features in the six with 138 million hours watched.

FaceBook Live, once a heavyweight in live streaming has all but bowed out of the competition with even Rumble surpassing the former. Rumble was the 7th most-watched platform in Q2 2024 with 122 million hours watched. Rumble is quite different from its competitors. The top channels on the platform mainly revolve around Talk shows, news broadcasts, and political analysis.

In fact, with the political landscape in the United States gearing up for the November elections, Rumble has seen a significant increase in political viewership. Keywords like Biden, Trump, and debate were the most searched on the platform, accounting for nearly one-third of all viewership during the Presidential debate in late June 2024.

Top Streamers

Kai Cenat was the most popular streamer across all platforms combined. With 43.8 million house watched, Cenat towered over the next most popular streamer, GauLes. Kai Cenat is extremely popular for his stream marathons and was widely hailed for his Elden Ring marathon stream.

He finally beat Elden Ring after 166 hours of gameplay, one therapy session, and many sleepy nights. In fact, his viewership on the stream, even when he was sleeping was so high that it was beating some popular esports livestreams.

The top five streamers include Jynxzi, Ibai as well as xQc all of whom have massive fan followings. When it comes to women content creators, here are the top five streamers.
