Twitch’s new patch notes are here!
Every month, Twitch staff hits that live button on their platform and gives a brief statement on their recent updates that were announced earlier each month. Earlier today (August 16, 2023), Twitch went live to talk about their recent patch notes, including Featured Clips, Mobile Discovery Feed and more.
Here is an overview of the August Twitch patch notes.
Twitch's August patch notes include Featured Clips
One of Twitch's biggest setbacks is their lack of viewability for small streamers. It is tough being a streamer and getting yourself noticed by new viewers.
So what exactly could Twitch do to help make discoverability for small streamers more accessible?
The answer is Featured Clips. Featured Clips is a new aspect of the Twitch App that allows for streamers' top clips to be seen by a large majority of people roaming the app.

The new feature will work like TikTok, YouTube Shorts and other video scrolling apps.
"This is a scrollable experience that encourages viewers to join you and your community live," said Lauren Kearney, Twitch Director of Product for Community Discovery.
The best part about this feature is Streamers' clips will only be shown when they are live, giving viewers a chance to get a taste of their new favorite streamer before joining the live stream.
The app won't just feature any random clip. The streamer will be able to choose which clips of theirs they would like to be featured in the app.

Twitch to prevent banned chatters from watching streams
One major issue streamers have been complaining about for a while now, is the fact that even though a viewer is banned from their stream, they can still watch. In this month's patch notes, Twitch announced that streamers will be able to toggle on or off a feature that will prevent banned chatters from watching their streams.
This is just another way to help prevent trolls and harassment on the website, and will hopefully help make it a safer platform.
Twitch talks Subtember
August is already halfway through, which means the infamous Subtember is right around the corner. Subtember, is when subscribers will be discounted throughout the entire month of September.

Here is every discount on subscriptions that will be available during Subtember this year:
- 25% off 1-Month Subs
- 25% off 3-Month Subs
- 30% off 6-Months Subs
Twitch also announced that all Twitch merch in their LootCave will be 25% off throughout the entire month of September.
Also, at the end of the month, Twitch will be offering 25% off gift subs. There will be no limit to how many subs a viewer can gift, meaning quite a few streamers will probably be running subathons.
