It will be a professional fight.

The rules for the much-anticipated fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul were announced on Monday, April 29. The bout will be classified as a "sanctioned, professional fight" by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations.

Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian announced the rules for the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson bout through ESPN.uk. The heavyweight showdown between Paul and Tyson will feature eight two-minute rounds and they'll utilize 14-ounce gloves. As it will be a sanctioned, professional fight, the result will appear in both Paul and Tyson's professional records.

The rules of the Paul vs Tyson bout were a matter of discussion in the boxing community, especially because Tyson is 30 years older than the YouTuber who is causing a fuss in the boxing world. This fight will feature the biggest age gap in the history of professional boxing as it will surpass the 24-year gap between Archie Moore and Mike DiBiase in 1963, according to ESPN.uk.

"Mike Tyson and Jake Paul signed on to fight each other with the desire to do so in a sanctioned professional fight that would have a definitive outcome," Bidarian told ESPN. "Over the past six weeks, MVP has worked with its partners to satisfy the requirements of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) to sanction Paul vs. Tyson, and we are grateful that we have gotten to this point."

The Paul vs Tyson bout will take place on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Boxing fans who wish to follow the fight online can follow the action on Netflix.

This will be a historic fight for both Tyson and Paul. The former heavyweight boxing champion hasn't won a professional boxing match since he knocked out Clifford Ettiene in 2003.

As for Paul, he'll have yet another opportunity to prove the fighting fans that he means business. The YouTuber already defeated former UFC stars Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, and Ben Askren over the past few years.

Paul's only professional defeat happened in February 2023 at the hands of professional boxer Tommy Fury and he boasts a 9-1 card. Tyson, on the other hand, had 50 wins and just six losses across his professional boxing career.
