Popular streamer and content creator Imane "Pokimane" Anys found herself defending against 'weirdos' on the internet after uploading a selfie. The negative sentiments on her selfie included comments about how she's acting immature, but Pokimane says that she finds it dumb.
Pokimane selfie draws controversy
The selfie in question was a simple selfie captioned "angy."
The post has garnered over 12 million views in under five days. However straightforward the post may have been, the quotes were anything but.
Among the hundreds of quotes were those lambasting Pokimane and how she wasn't acting her age. One quote from user @silliesttwtuser where they said "grown as f**k" has almost 5 million views and 114k likes.
Other quotes included "Pushing 50 btw," "When you wanna be wholesome Puppers af but you 28 Years old," and "Grown ass woman btw."

The reaction to her selfie prompted acknowledgement from Pokimane herself. She addressed the response via a post on X, calling those involved 'weirdos,' and reassured her female audience.

although idc about the comments, i do worry about the impact it has on other girls & women who see this type of harassment - and to them, i want to reassure you that life only gets better. growing older will not make you miserable, but living your life trying to appease random shitty people definitely will!
The replies to this post provided support to Pokimane. These included fellow content creators QTCinderella, Maya Higa, and Nick "nmplol" Polom.
