Kai Cenat has destroyed the record for the most concurrent subs on Twitch, beating out the previous amount by more then 30,000.

The streamer broke the record during his February subathon, a stream which has lasted the entire month. Fellow streamer Ludwig had previously held the record. Ludwig obtained 283,000 subs on Twitch in April 2021.

It was always going to take something special for that record to be broken and with more than 50,000 average viewers during the subathon, Cenat achieved just that.

Cenat added nearly 30,000 subs to his counter in one single day on Feb. 28. He woke up with his counter on approximately 272,000 and will finish it way over 300,000. At the time of publishing the total was over 304,150.

Month-long "Mafiathon"

A subathon is usually when a streamer or content creator starts a stream with a set amount of time to stream, adding to that clock with each donation or sub to their channel. Some streamers choose to see how long they can make their subathons, whereas others have to set limits.

Kai Cenat has capped his subathon at 30 days, which is incredibly sensible as fans would have had him streaming for a lot longer through their support of the stream.

Cenat dubbed his stream the "Mafiathon" in reference to the name that he gives to his Twitch fanbase. He has celebrated Black History Month throughout February, making a huge mark as one of the trailblazers of Twitch.

He has had many guests on the subathon stream, YouTuber and member of the Sidemen KSI sticks out as one of the biggest.

Mr. Beast was also involved, with the content creator gifting a real-life Iron Man suit to Cenat at one point during the month.

"We did it."

Cenat spent a while talking to his chat about the accomplishment. For someone who has become so successful in the last 24 months, he manages to remain incredibly humble.

"The thing about me," he told his chat. "Is that I always question myself. I always ask God, I ask, why me? I hold onto that. We were talking about this last night, I knew that you were all going to do that. We did it bro, we did it, we did it."

"The job's not done," he continued. "LeBron has the most points in the NBA, has he stopped playing games?"

Chances are that no streamer will ever get close to the subs record that Kai Cenat has set, with extraordinary circumstances having to present themselves for anyone to even get close. Cenat's engaging personality and connection to his fans makes him a unique streamer with a community that nobody really comes close to on Twitch anymore.

The subathon was not without controversy though. Cenat faced allegations of breaching Twitch's Terms of Service by allegedly having a sexual act performed upon him during the stream. He completely denied that accusation.

Cenat has also had previous dealings with Twitch censors. He was banned in the week before the subathon started, after passing out on stream following the consumption of THC edibles.

If anything, these run-ins with the metaphorical Twitch law only serve to make Cenat more relatable to his fans, with the streamer really remaining in touch with his roots regardless of how big he has become.

Cenat's Twitch subathon is set to run until March 2, fulfilling all 30 days that have been promised. Kai Cenat still has more than 300,000 subs at the time of writing.
