After being accused saying a racial slur during a phone call, ExtraEmily has responded with a video.
Streaming can be tough for anyone, but when facing allegations of racism from the entirety of the internet, it can become even harder. For Emily "ExtraEmily" Zhang, this has become a reality after the streamer was accused of using a racial slur while on stream.
The backlash from the entire internet has been brutal, building drama around her once again. The backlash was so extreme the streamer said she considered quitting.
The controversy comes just one month after ExtraEmily came under fire for saying on stream she refuses to pay back her parents $140,000 for her college tuition. Although, she later shared she had paid them after huge public outrage. Meanwhile in January the internet was in uproar over her apparent mishandling of a firearm on Mizkif's stream.
The original incident live on stream
The original incident which sparked this vitriolic reaction took place on Feb. 22. While streaming a call with her friend Russel, ExtraEmily accidentally allegedly used what is being called a racial slur. In the clip below you can hear the exchange between the two individuals.
The backlash was instant, as the first part of the sentence sounds distantly like a very serious racial slur. The clip, since then, has gone viral, reaching a staggering 32 million views.
Over the next few days, ExtraEmily tried her best to explain her situation. She tried to reach out on X for any assistance, replying to those accusing her as much as she could.

While some may have forgiven her for what seemed like a misunderstanding, ExtraEmily's attempts to make light of the situation shortly after didn't go down too well.
In a later clip which has now been taken down due to copyright, ExtraEmily tried to recreate her slip up on stream, but deliberately saying the word pause multiple times for comedic effect. "We're not doing this again Nick, pause, pause, pause, pause, uh."
Overall it's been a rough start to 2025 for ExtraEmily, with three major dramas in the space of just 2 months.

ExtraEmily responds on stream to racist allegations
It was on Feb. 25 when a new clip from ExtraEmily appeared where she addressed the allegations. In the clip, the streamer speaks through tears about how she feels as though it could be time for her to move away from streaming. Alongside this, she speaks about how streaming has always pulled her back in because she does not want to do anything else.
Even through her tears and the allegations facing her, the streamer culminates in wanting to continue streaming.
"There are tough times, but we will keep pushing on. It’s just been happening too frequently lately. It’s so strange. You just have to focus on what you want to do and accomplish. I think it’s still nice to try and do my best streams that I can and just focus on the support that I have rather than the hate."
While these allegations are serious, ExtraEmily’s community seems to have helped her through some of the worst parts. For the streamer, it seems as though she will continue to stream, and hopefully avoid any further issues.
