We finally have the name, and a trailer for, the brand new Star Wars game being developed by Respawn Entertainment and Bitreactor. The game, dubbed the Star Wars version of XCOM, is officially called Star Wars Zero Company.
The game officially debuted at the Star Wars Celebration event being held in Japan. The panel featuring this game took place on April 19, and released the worlds first Trailer for the game.

What sort of game is Star Wars Zero Company?
Star Wars Zero Company is a single-player turn-based tactics game. The game that Zero Company has most been compared to is XCOM. This is a turn based game that sees you move troops around in combat, taking out enemies to complete objectives.
A game that resembles XCOM would work very well for Star Wars, with so many different troop-types and with combat being core to the franchise in one way or another.

What era will the game be set in?
Zero Company will be set in the Clone Wars era, letting the player take on some of the lesser known battles during the era. You will be fighting in places you have never seen before, rather than re-enacting major moments from things like the Clone Wars animated cartoon. As the trailer says, the game focuses on "The war beneath the war."
This, combined with a tweet from the Star Wars account, shows us that the game is set before Order 66 and during the Clone Wars. That does not mean other eras won't be avaliable later down the line. However, this certainly seems the best Star Wars era for this sort of game.
The game focuses on Hawks, a former republic officer, as he commands an elite squad of cunning operatives. This is a team of "guns for hire", meaning you'll be commanding a lot more than just a legion of Clone Troopers. You'll create and customize your squad for battle. In addition, you'll build and maintain an intelligent network to stay one step ahead of your adversaries.
When will Star Wars Zero Company release and on what platforms?
Star Wars Zero Company has a release date of "2026." It will be released on PC, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. You can Wishlist the game now. Hopefully this will release in the first few months of 2026, so we don't have to wait too long to play it!
