Shift is gonna save the summer!

ShiftRLE has just made two big announcements: the Shift Summer League and a new strategic partnership with Quick Fix Media. Thanks to its new backing, the Rocket League news outlet will offer its competitors a generous $40,000 prize pool.

This summertime tournament intends to "bridge the gap" between the upcoming RLCS London Major and the 2024 World Championship.

The Shift Summer League

Shift's new competition is a nostalgic throwback to the league play format used by RLCS until Season X. With many in the community frequently wishing for league play's return to RLCS, this format choice is very exciting for fans.

The Shift Summer League will feature both Europe and North America, with each region having a prize pool of $20,000. In early July, 10 teams from each region will compete in a three-week double round-robin League Play.

To determine the 10, six teams will be invited and four will come from an Open Qualifier and Play-In. This gives a much-welcome opportunity to teams who didn't qualify for either of the two upcoming RLCS LANs. The Shift Summer League provides an opportunity for competition in what would otherwise be a nearly 7-month offseason.

At the end of League Play, the top six teams from each region will advance to that region's Playoff. Here, they'll play out a double-elimination bracket to determine a winner. More information about the Shift Summer League, such as rules and an exact schedule, is on the way.

ShiftRLE also announced a new "strategic partnership" with Quick Fix Media, a new esports content and media division established by Oxygen Esports. QFM states their goal to be "providing strategic guidance and resources to endemic, community-led initiatives working on esports news, content, and media."

According to their announcement article, this partnership will grant ShiftRLE "increased resources, expanded reach, and the flexibility to explore new opportunities." The additional backing by QFM is a large part of what makes the Shift Summer League possible.
