The first rounds of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2022-23 Spring Open for North America (NA), Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and Oceania (OCE), finally wrapped up. Teams competed to secured the points needed to attend the RLCS Spring Major as well as the RLCS World Championship in August.
Let's take a look at what happened during the first bloom of the RLCS Spring Open.
Complexity Gaming secures RLCS NA qualifier win with pure consistency
The odds were finally on Complexity Gaming's side as they emerged victorious at the RLCS Spring Open. They previously had a rough Fall season that led to them missing out on the Fall Major. We saw flashes of potential during the Winter Split, with them earning second place against Gen.G Mobil1 Racing in the Winter Open. They then consistently stayed in the top four during the Winter Cup and Winter Invitational, which led to them getting top four in the RLCS Winter Major.
With hard work and pure determination, they kept up their consistency in the RLCS Spring Open. They started with a clean score of 3-0 against Zero2One. Complexity Gaming then took down Version 1 and OpTic Gaming, which landed them in the upper-bracket final against Gen.G Mobil1 Racing.
Complexity Gaming historically tends to fall to Gen.G, but in an intense seven-game series, Complexity secured the advancement to the grand final. Gen.G managed to survive the lower-bracket final against OpTic Gaming and they had a second chance to reclaim their NA throne. However, Complexity Gaming decided to stop Gen.G's NA domination and bring them down with a 4-2 score.
The upcoming RLCS Spring Major will have five reserved slots for the best NA teams in the RLCS Spring Split. Below is the current RLCS NA Spring Ranking, with Complexity Gaming in first place.
