Grow a Garden: Everything about the Pet Mutations Update

After the Prehistoric Update, Jandel will launch a new one called the Pet Mutations Update, which will further improve the role that our beloved lawn Pets play in Grow a Garden.

As the game introduces more Pets every update, with the rarer ones having more useful traits in various ways, like providing mutations and increasing cooldowns, it looks like many players will definitely work again on increasing their garden’s Pet capacity if they haven’t maximized it yet.

For those who want to get a bit of spoilers on what to expect in the Pet Mutations Update, here’s a compilation of everything we know so far.

The following details are all based on Grow a Garden’s Roblox page and some leaks that came from the man behind everything about this game, Jandel. 

Mutations aren’t exclusive to crops anymore — even your Pets are now upgradeable through mutations, which might change their physical appearance, enhance the effects of their traits, or even give them new abilities.

Jandel recently posted a TikTok that included tidbits of information about features related to the Pet Mutation process. Another chamber similar to the Dinosaur Machine will appear right beside Raphael, the NPC that sells Pet Eggs. That chamber will replace the three egg sprites that let you know what Pet Eggs are in stock.

With all the exciting Pet mutations aside, it’s sad that we won’t be able to see the Pet Egg in stock in a single glance anymore, since you need to talk to Raphael first to open the list of available Pet Eggs, pretty much like the Gear Shop.

The Prehistoric Event in Grow a Garden will offer more things for players to enjoy, like a new set of prehistoric quests, new crafting recipes, and a feature that will allow several upgrades for the Dino Machine.

The more upgrades you apply to the Dino Machine, the better rewards you’ll get after submitting a non-dinosaur Pet.

It almost became a protocol for Jandel’s team to add some new seeds, regular weather events, and admin weather systems to the game during an update. This will be the same case with the Pet Mutations Update in Grow a Garden, which will take effect from 2:00 PM on June 12, 2025, to 10:00 AM on July 19, 2025 (UTC).

Try to enter the game an hour before the update or even earlier, since Jandel will surely use his admin powers again to rain down multiple admin weather systems that stack even more mutations on your crops.
