TSM to leave Rainbow Six Siege less than a year after winning SI 2022

From winning Six Invitational 2022 to failing to qualify for the 2023 World Championship.

The Six Invitational 2022 Championship winning team, TSM is all set to exit Rainbow Six Siege as per a SportsBusinessJournal report.
TSM communicated its decision to leave Rainbow Six Siege yesterday as per the report. Despite being the 2022 Champions, TSM’s performance over the past year has not been satisfactory.
Over the past year, following their Six Invitational 2022 victory, TSM's roster disintegrated with multiple retirements and player transfers. It all started with Chala's retirement in July last year. Geometric left the team later in the year and the final nail in the coffin was Beaulo's retirement from R6 Pro play. Beaulo's announcement came earlier this year and he revealed his decision to focus more on content creation.
The team failed to qualify for the ongoing Six Invitational 2023, disappointing their fans across the globe.

Why did TSM leave Rainbow Six Siege?

The team finished 5-6th at the Six Jönköping Major 2022 late last year. The org's final opportunity to qualify for the Six Invitational 2023 was the NA Qualifier, but they lost to SpaceStation Gaming.
The decision also follows FTX’s collapse, one of the main sponsors for TSM. FTX’s collapse was a massive hit for TSM who had signed a $210 million deal with the cryptocurrency exchange.
While TSM’s potential R6 exit is not great news, it’s less to do with the state of Rainbow Six Siege and more to do with TSM. A roster that failed to produce results and a clear shift in management’s appetite for Rainbow Six Siege, there are many reasons for TSM’s decision.

What’s next for TSM?

One of the biggest names in North American esports, TSM fields teams across various game titles. The org has teams in Valorant, League of Legends, Dota 2, and many more.
As per a recent job listing, TSM might be looking to re-enter CS:GO. TSM had previously fielded a Danish CS:GO roster in 2014-15 but soon marked an exit from Valve’s FPS scene.
Last year TSM announced their decision to re-enter CS:GO in 2023 and will field a EU team.
The Six Invitational 2023, the World Championships of Rainbow Six Siege is currently underway in Montreal. Twenty of the best Rainbow Six Siege teams are in competition for the lion's share of the prize pool and the glory of being the best R6 team on the planet.

Started esports with Dota, moved to CS, then OW, back to Dota 2, and now a bit of Valorant. I love city-building games, and have spent hours in Cities: Skylines only to have the traffic defeat me. Currently on a reading spree - the aim is to read 150 books in 2023. Can I do it? Would you?
