The Six Invitational 2022 will take place at the Stockholmsmässan in Sweden. The tournament was originally supposed to take place in Quebec, Canada. But organizing an event in Quebec was no longer possible and Ubisoft had to shift the entire tournament to Sweden.

“In light of the renewed regulations and event restrictions in Quebec, Canada, hosting the Six Invitational 2022 there is no longer possible. Therefore we have decided to move the location of the event to Stockholm, Sweden, where the event will take place at the same dates, from February 8 to 20, in a LAN environment following strict sanitary measures. With the health and safety of our players, fans, staff and partners as our top priority, and given the recent evolution of the pandemic, we have also decided to maintain a no live audience policy at the event.”

The developer also announced that the event will not feature a live audience as the safety of the players is of utmost importance. In a bid to bring the best quality Rainbow Six games to the fans, Ubisoft will also allow select streamers to co-stream the matches. This will ensure a wider reach and more fans can enjoy watching the matches with their favorite streamers.

Tournament Format

Group Stage

The 20 teams form four groups of five teams each. The teams play each other once over the duration of five days of the group stage. All matches are best-of-three series.

The winner of each group advances to the Upper Bracket Round 2 of the Playoffs. The next two teams go to the Upper Bracket Round 1 of the Playoffs. The team that places second gets the opportunity to pick its opponent (3rd placed team in any group other than their own). The pick order depends on the scores of all teams that placed second.

The team that places last in the group stage is eliminated from the event. The fourth-placed team moves to the lower bracket of the event.

The points distribution system is as follows:

  • 3 points for a 2:0 win
  • 2 points for a 2:1 win
  • 1 point for a 1:2 loss
  • 0 points for a 0:2 loss

Playoffs

The playoffs feature a double-elimination bracket where all matches except the Grand finals are best-of-three series. The Grand finals is a best-of-five event.
