What are the Apples on the map in Pokémon GO?

The latest Pokémon GO event, Sweet Discoveries, has introduced something brand new to the game. There are now Apples all over the Pokémon GO map. This might be familiar to Trainers who opened the game on April Fools Day, as this is basically the same mechanic that we saw on that day.

It seems that Niantic were sneakily testing something on us on April Fools day! So, these Apples essentially work in the same way as those April Fools Poké Balls with a variety of things potentially waiting inside for you when you click on them. As similar as these might look to the new Pokémon, Applin, these are sadly an item rather than a guaranteed Pokémon!

So, here's everything you need to know about the Apples appearing in Pokémon GO.

The Apples spawning around the map have a variety of different things potentially inside them. When Niantic announced the event, they didn't reveal all of the potential things inside the Apples so we will update this list as the event goes on.

That makes these Apples really important to getting Applin and also evolving it into either Flapple or Appletun in Pokémon GO. You'll need to be interacting with as many Apples as you can over the course of the event.

However, there is also a way to get a few extra Apples. During the event, there will be an increased chance for Apples to appear if you are in range of a Mossy Lure Module. This Lure Module is avaliable from both the free and Paid Timed Research during this event.

Additionally, you can also get these as a reward from PokéStop Showcases or, if you must, purchase them from the in-game shop.
