One of Nintendo’s most historical games, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, has now dropped on the Switch 2. Here is how you can play the title.

One of Pokémon‘s most historical and ambitious games has just dropped for the Switch 2, meaning anyone with the latest Nintendo hardware can play the popular game, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. Here is a look at the game and how much you will have to pay to get the title on the Switch 2.

How to play Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness on the Switch 2

First and foremost, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness is only available for those with a Switch 2. Unfortunately, if you do not own the new console and still have a Switch 1, you will not be able to play the game.

For those who have purchased a Switch 2, there are still a few more steps you will have to take before playing the famous GameCube title.

Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness requires a yearly subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online and its expansion pack, which grants players the ability to play GameCube games on the Switch. The subscription is currently $49.99 USD for an entire year.

History

For those unfamiliar with Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, this is truly the first 3D Pokémon game (with a story, which excludes the colosseum games). You play as a young boy with an Eevee as a companion, dead set on restoring a bunch of Pokémon who have been plagued with a special darkness.

The game was unique in its time, as players had not had a plot-driven Pokémon game with 3D graphics, and it put players in a brand new region never explored before.

Now, with it officially being available on the Nintendo Switch, we will hopefully see a plethora of gamers find the game for the very first time.

Will you be playing Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness? Or is this a Pokémon title you will be skipping out on?
