The $500,000 tournament is running from August 16 to 17.

The best Pokémon UNITE teams in the world will fly to Honolulu, Hawaii to attend the World Championship 2024 between August 16 and 17.

There are a total of 29 teams in attendance fighting for their share of the $500,000 prize pool. North America is reigning supreme thus far as the region won the first two Pokémon UNITE World Championships in 2022 and 2023 through BLVKHVND and Luminosity Gaming, respectively.

Luminosity, by the way, qualified again and will have the chance to defend their title, albeit with a considerably changed lineup. Worlds is always a special event because we get to see all the different metas clashing all in one tournament.

Here's everything you need to know about the Pokémon World Championship 2024, including all teams attending, how to watch the event, the format, schedule, and results.

Pokémon UNITE World Championship 2024: Format and prize pool

The 29 teams have been divided into eight groups of three and four teams each. The format for the group stage is a single round-robin bracket and all matches are best-of-threes. The top two teams from each group advance to the playoffs.

Once the playoffs begin, however, the tournament shifts to a single-elimination format. All playoff matches are best-of-threes, with the exception of the grand finals, which is a best-of-five series.

All matches feature five-versus-five with draft picks.

While the winner of the tournament will take home $100,000, the runners-up will earn $75,000. The third-placed and fourth-placed will earn $65,000 and $60,000, respectively.
