Pokémon UNITE announces $1 million 2024 World Championship

It's a great day when Pokémon players get to compete for a $1 million prize pool. Pokemon UNITE, the popular MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena game) announced its 2024 competitive season and its World Championship today, which will award players with up to $1 million in prizes.

Here are all the details on the Pokémon UNITE 2024 World Championship and its competitive season.

The Pokémon UNITE World Championship will be a series of tournaments leading up to one massive event held later in 2024 in Honolulu, Hawai'i. Players from around the world will have multiple chances to compete and earn their spot in the World Championship tournament.

There will be multiple monthly events that players from across multiple regions of the world will be able to compete in. These events will be double-elimination format and also give out cash prizes.

The Pokémon UNITE World Championship itself will have a $500,000 prize pool, awarding the top players who are able to qualify for the event.

After a few months of competitive events, Pokémon UNITE will host its Regional Championship.

This coming May, players across all the regions will be able to take place in their Regional Championship, which will determine which teams will head to the World Championship in Hawai'i.

Competing in the Regional Championship is not the only way for players to qualify for the World Championship, though. Pokémon UNITE also plans to host another Aeos Cup, which will grant one team a ticket to compete in the World Championship.

The Aoes Cup will also have a $100,000 prize pool, making it one of the bigger Pokémon UNITE tournaments. The online qualifier for the Aoes Cup begins on February 3, 2024.
