Pokémon Legends: Z-A adds a new Mystery Gift with Mewtwo Mega Stones

Mewtwo, as well as its Mega Stones are now available in Pokémon Legends: Z-A by claiming a Mystery Gift released alongside the announcement of Mega Lucario Z.

The Mystery Gift, titled Project M, unlocks a side mission that lets players encounter and capture the Gen 1 Legendary Mewtwo. It also rewards one Mewtwonite X and one Mewtwonite Y, which allow the Genetic Pokémon to Mega Evolve into either of its two forms.

Stats-wise, Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y are among the strongest Psychic types in the entire franchise, each boasting a total base stat of 780. The only Pokémon that match or surpass them are Mega Rayquaza, which also sits at 780, and Eternamax Eternatus, which reaches an unmatched 1125.

To unlock the side mission and the two Mewtwo Mega Stones, open the game and press the X button. This will open the menu and give you access to the Link Play options.

In the menu, follow the steps below:

1. Select Link Play.

2. Go to Mystery Gift.

3. Select Get via Internet (make sure you’re connected to the Internet while doing this).

4. Wait for the Internet connection to load, and you’ll see the list of available Mystery Gifts.

5. Select Project M

Upon opening the Project M Mystery Gift in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you may now head back to the game and open your Satchel. You should see the Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y items in the Mega Stones tab.

Keep in mind that this Mystery Gift is claimable by all players, including those who didn’t purchase the Mega Dimension DLC. The only requirement to start the side mission is to complete the game’s main story.

Once you have the Mystery Gift, head to Lysandre Café, located northeast of Wild Zone 7. Inside, make your way to Lysandre Labs, take the elevator to the third floor, then walk straight and turn right to begin the Mewtwo side mission.
