Sun… and… Moon?
Pokémon GO have released an eclipsed themed teaser hinting that Necrozma will be debuting at Pokémon GO Fest this summer. The eclipse is followed by a shadow that resembles the outline of this Legendary Pokémon.
Necrozma, which first appeared in Sun and Moon, has not yet appeared in Pokémon GO. It is the third legendary of these games and their sequel, with Solgaleo and Lunala having been available in the game for some time.
With the Pokémon being what joins Sun and Moon together, it makes sense that this eclipse might be the perfect time to start teasing its release.
Is Necrozma coming to Pokémon GO?
It now seems likely that Necrozma will debut during the Pokémon GO Fest events this summer. We always get a range of debuts, like Mega Rayquaza, and we don't currently know what the Legendary or Mega Raids will be at the events this year.
But, a big clue has been under our noses this whole time. At Pokémon GO Fest 2024, Pikachu and Eevee are spawning with both Sun and Moon crowns.
That already alerted players that we might see something from the Sun and Moon games. Some speculated we might get the other forms of Solgaleo and Lunala but now it seems very likely we will be getting Necrozma's debut.
However, that does not rule out the other forms of Solgaleo and Lunala also debuting. The Raid Lover ticket specifically states that we will have Five Star and Mega Raids during the event. If they treated the different forms as Mega Evolutions, which is plausible, then todays teaser does not rule them out.

Will this Pokémon be any good?
We don't yet know what stats and moves Necrozma will have in Pokémon GO. The standard form of Necrozma is a pure Psychic-type Pokémon and therefore will be weak to some pretty strong and common Pokémon like Tyranitar.
However, like Solgaleo and Lunala, Necrozma has different forms. Some of these could be very powerful and have insanely high CP. We don't know if those have any chance of debuting this summer as well.
Stay tuned trainers, with Pokémon GO Fest not long away, official confirmation of the GO Fest Raid lineup shouldn't be far away.
