Mega Lucario will debut in Pokémon GO as part of an Ultra Unlock event.

Pokémon GO have teased the debut of Mega Lucario. The powerful Fighting and Steel-type will finally arrive in game as part of the series of Ultra Unlock events that follow this years Pokémon GO Fest.

It had been rumoured that it would be Mega Metagross getting its debut, however Trainers will have to wait for that particular Mega Pokémon to make it’s way into the game.

When does Mega Lucario come to Pokémon GO?

Mega Lucario will debut in Pokémon GO on July 27th between 11am and 5pm local time. It will debut in a special Ultra Unlock Raid Day in Pokémon GO.

This Raid Day gives Trainers plenty of chance to get their hands on all the Lucario Mega Energy they need to evolve multiple Lucario.

We don’t yet know full details of how this Ultra Unlock Raid Day will work. There may well be additional bonuses including boosted Shiny odds or Raid Rewards as part of this Unlock. More details should release after GO Fest Global concludes.

Will Mega Lucario be good?

While we don’t yet have full stats for Mega Lucario, it should be a very strong Pokémon in Pokémon GO. At the moment, Mega Heracross is the best Fighting-type Pokémon in the game. It is very likely that Mega Lucario will steal this top spot.

As a Fighting-type, Lucario in the standard form is already a strong Pokémon. While it does not get to a super high CP value, don’t let this deceive you.

In the Steel-type category Mega Lucario won’t be as strong but it will still be a very solid choice. Any Riolu you have can learn a second move for a greatly reduced Stardust cost, making a wide coverage Mega Lucario with two Charged Attacks a lot more affordable.
