What biomes can you find?
The Pokémon GO Rediscover Kanto event is the next step in the Rediscover GO refresh of Pokémon GO. From Monday April 22 (10am PDT) until Thursday May 9 (8pm PDT) Pokémon from the Kanto region will be spawning in an all new biome system.
A biome system has long been requested for the game. Now, trainers can head out to specific locations in order to hunt the Pokémon that they want. The Rediscover Kanto event is the launch for this system. However, biomes will be remaining in Pokémon GO after this event concludes.
Pokémon GO Rediscover Kanto event bonuses
There are a range of event bonuses available to trainers who want to get stuck in and rediscover Kanto.
- Increased XP for a seven-day PokéStop spin streak.
- Increased XP for a seven-day Pokémon catch streak.
- Friendship levels will increase faster than normal (2x) through opening Gifts, trading Pokémon, or battling together in raids, Gyms, or Trainer Battles.
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Bulbasaur, Shiny Charmander, and Shiny Squirtle in their respective biomes.
Additionally, evolving the Kanto starter Pokémon during this event will grant them their legacy attacks from past Community Days.
Featured Attacks
- Evolve Ivysaur (Bulbasaur’s Evolution) to get a Venusaur that knows the Charged Attack Frenzy Plant.
- Evolve Wartortle (Squirtle’s Evolution) to get a Blastoise that knows the Charged Attack Hydro Cannon.
- Evolve Charmeleon (Charmander’s Evolution) to get a Charizard that knows the Charged Attack Blast Burn.
There will also be Field Research tasks that will reward you Venusaur, Charizard or Blastoise Mega Energy. Additionally, all Trainers will get the Rediscover Kanto Special Research. This five page research will award items, XP, encounters and more.

Niantic have kept a lot of details underwraps about the introduction of biomes in Pokémon GO. They want trainers to head out and discover the biomes for themselves.

Discovered biomes:

In their official Rediscover GO post, they share examples of what sort of Pokémon spawn in a few of the biomes.
- The forest biome is home to Pokémon first discovered in Kanto such as Bulbasaur, Caterpie, Weedle, Oddish, and more.
- The mountain biome is home to Sandshrew, Clefairy, Zubat, Diglett, and more.
- The beach biome is home to Squirtle, Psyduck, Seel, Magikarp, and more.
- The city biome is home to Caterpie, Pidgey, Machop, Gastly, and more.
Niantic also added that towns and other populated areas are included in the city biome.
Wigglett debuts in Pokémon GO
Wigglett will be making its Pokémon GO debut during the Rediscover Kanto event. The Garden Eel Pokémon will spawn in the beach biome during this event.
