It looks like Dynamax and Gigantamax are releasing in Pokémon GO sooner than we thought. Here’s what we know.

The next season of Pokémon GO will introduce Dynamax and Gigantamax to the game. These features debuted in Pokémon Sword and Shield alongside the Galar Region. Ever since that game released, Trainers have been wondering when, and how, these features could come to the game.

Niantic have held off releasing most of the Galar Pokémon into Pokémon GO, which was the first hint that this feature was coming to the game at some point. Over the last several months, things slowly started to appear in the games files. Codenamed Bread, this feature seems almost certain to release into the game.

Pokémon GO now has icons for Dynamax and Gigantamax

While things can remain in the files and game unreleased for several months (looking at you Black and White Kyurem) a recent update to the game has all but confirmed that next season, which starts September 3, will introduce these features.

The logos for Dynamax and Gigantamax have appeared in the options you have to search through your Pokémon. These are currently teased with '?' and '???'.

Additionally, there has been a huge amount of new information appear inside the game recently. Pokémon GO now seems to have all the pieces of the puzzle ready for this feature to release. You will need Max Particles in order to to Dynamax or Gigantamax a Pokémon. There will be new 'Power Spots' on the map, and this is where you will catch Dynamax Pokémon.

These Power Spots will have a boss, that you need Dynamax Pokémon to take down. Then if you defeat the boss, a Dynamax Pokémon can be left to help other trainers take on that boss themselves.

Gigantamax Pokémon and moves

While all Pokémon can Dynamax in Pokémon Sword and Shield, Gigantamax was reserved for a handful of Pokémon in the game. Now, all of these Gigantamax Pokémon have been added to the files in Pokémon GO. In total, there are 32 species of Pokémon that can Gigantamax.

In addition, their special 'G-Moves' have also been added to the game. That means that the Dynamax and Gigantamax should be very similar to what we see in Sword and Shield. Dynamax moves have also been added too, these are generic across several Pokémon.

With the new season coming in less than a month, and teasers already appearing, we should get more details about Dynamax and Gigantamax in Pokémon GO soon.
