The next season of Pokémon GO is called Dual Destiny, here is everything we know so far.
With the Pokémon GO Wild Area event concluded, attention is now turning to the next season of Pokémon GO which starts next week. We now officially know the name of the season, and can make some early inferences about what is on the horizon. Here is everything we know about Pokémon GO Dual Destiny.
When is the next Pokémon GO season?
The next Pokémon GO season, Dual Destiny begins at 10:00am local time on December 3, 2024. It will run through until March 4, 2025.
What is coming in Pokémon GO Dual Destiny?
As of today, we've had one tease for the upcoming Season of Pokémon GO. Combined with the brand new app logo that has appeared on Android, we can work out a few early details.
Black and White Kyurem should debut in a Unova Tour
The cat is out of the bag when it comes to Black and White Kyurem in Pokémon GO. They accidentally debuted a few months ago, and were recalled. With the introduction of fusions during Pokémon GO Fest and Adventure Effects during Sinnoh Tour the time seems right for Black and White Kyurem to debut (intentionally!).
Their debut will come during the Unova tour. We know that Black and White, and by extension Unova will feature this season thanks to the new app icon. This features a black and white background.
We usually get a Tour event in February, and these have been regionally themed and happening in chronological order. After Sinnoh comes Unova, so expect details on the Unova Tour both in person and online during Pokémon GO Dual Destiny.

Hoopa to return in Pokémon GO Dual Destiny, will it be shiny?
The teaser trailer that Niantic released features more than a few rings. That seems to imply we will see the return of Hoopa during Pokémon GO Dual Destiny. We haven't seen this Pokémon for some time. Hoopa Confined was last seen in September 2021, and came through Special Research. Hoopa Unbound was also last seen in 2021, and featured in Elite Raids.
We should see both of these Pokémon. There is a chance that we will get the shiny versions of these Pokémon during this season too.
Gigantamax Orbeetle on the horizon
A separate video posted after GO Wild Area hinted at future Gigantamax Battles. In the video was Gigantamax Orbeetle, which now seems to be the next Gigantamax Pokémon to arrive in the game. This perhaps isn't the most exciting Gigantamax Pokémon we could get. However, we haven't had Orbeetle in the game at all yet so this (for now) could be a Pokémon debut.
Additionally, we have several Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon that counter Orbeetle, which should make these Gigantamax Battles a bit more accessible.
Pokémon GO Dual Destiny will debut Mega Gallade
We now also can see that Mega Gallade will soon be coming to the game. Trainers can now see Gallade Mega Energy in the game, which is always a precursor for the Mega Evolution of a Pokémon being released.
There are some Raid Day events planned for the first half of Dual Destiny. We will most likely see Mega Gallade release during one of those events, like with Mega Lucario, Mega Mawile and Mega Heracross.
We will get more details about Pokémon GO Dual Destiny over the coming days. Stay tuned to esports.gg for the latest esports news and more Pokémon GO updates.
