The next Pokémon GO Catch Mastery event will feature Archen, the first Bird Pokémon.
Pokémon GO is once again getting a Catch Mastery event, with Archen the featured Pokémon this time around. Catch Mastery events in Pokémon GO focus on getting out and catching as many Pokémon as possible, both in the wild and from Field Research.
You'll have special bonuses for the accuracy of your throws, increased shiny odds and much more to sink your teeth into - with the event lasting a lot longer than a standard Pokémon GO event.
We don't see Catch Mastery events in Pokémon GO very often. So, here are all the event details you need to make the most of it in Pokémon GO.
Pokémon GO Catch Mastery: Archen
The Catch Mastery event is a long one in Pokémon GO, running on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. all the way until 8:00 p.m. local time.
Omanyte and Kabuto will be appearing more frequently in the wild during this event. Both of these Pokémon can be shiny.

Event bonuses feature increased Shiny Archen odds in Pokémon GO
Here are all the bonuses that will run throughout the ten hours of the event.
- Increased chance of encountering Shiny Omanyte, Shiny Kabuto, and Shiny Archen in Pokémon GO.
- 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
- 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Curveball Throws.
That makes this event a great opportunity to grind XP in Pokémon GO, especially if you can string together several Nice, Great or Excellent throws in a row. With a Lucky Egg, this bonus will increase to 4x XP.
Special Field Research Task Encounters
With the focus being on getting Shiny Archen in Pokémon GO during this event, there will be special tasks focused on your Poké Ball throwing accuracy. Completing these Field Research tasks will reward you an encounter with Archen, which can be shiny.
There will additionally be a Timed Research that will be focused on catching Rock-type Pokémon. You can complete 10 sets of research tasks to encounter 40 Archen in total - with boosted Shiny Archen odds.
You can boost this with a paid $2 ticket, which will reward an additional 40 encounters with Archen.
