Niantic have issued a statement to esports.gg about the Unova Tour in Los Angeles.
Niantic have told esports.gg tha preparations for the Los Angeles Unova Tour are currently continuing, despite the unfolding Fires in Los Angeles.
There are currently five different fires burning in the Los Angeles area. The largest, called the Eaton Fire, is approaching the county of Pasadena. This is currently the location for the in-person Los Angeles Unova's Park Experience, which is being held at the Rose Bowl Stadium.
Niantic have shared an official statement with esports.gg about the unfolding situation.
Niantic issue statement on the future of the Unova Tour in Los Angeles
A spokesperson for Niantic told esports.gg:
"Our team has been carefully observing the situation in Los Angeles with the well-being of Pasadena, greater Los Angeles, and of course our Niantic community in mind. While we are currently continuing our preparations, any updates regarding the event will be shared as they become available."
At the moment, it is clear that the event is still set to go ahead as things stand. The Unova Tour comes to Los Angeles between February 21-23. This is still a significant length of time away. However, there has there has been significant concern on social media about the event.
This concern stems in particular from how close the Eaton Fire is getting to Pasadena. This is the location that a lot of Trainers will spend the majority of their time. The Rose Bowl Stadium is also currently being used as a base for Emergency Response Efforts.

Situation to be monitored by Niantic
At the moment, it is no surprise that Niantic are only monitoring the situation. The fire is still an unfolding situation, with the final damage and impact yet to be see. There is a chance that Niantic may have to make adjustments to the event, but it is currently too early to know what the situation will look like.
Pressures on the event could include displaced citizens in hotels, damage to the Pasadena neighbourhood and or the Rose Bowl itself. However, with over 40 days until the event, everyone including Niantic is left to watch and wait.
