Trying to get past Snorlax in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen? Here is a guide on how to wake the Pokémon up.
Whether this is your first time playing Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, or you are a seasoned veteran, one of the most annoying parts of the game is when you have to bypass Snorlax. In fact, the giant Pokémon gets in your way twice in the game.
So, how do you get past Snorlax in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen? Here is a guide.
Getting past Snorlax in Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen
You first encounter Snorlax on Route 12, blocking the route that leads south of Lavender Town. While you can run into the Pokémon after visiting Vermillion City for the first time, you will not be able to wake him up until you venture to Lavender Town.

So, what do you once you have found yourself in Lavender town. Well, you must acquire the Poké Flute, which is item that can be played to wake up Snorlax.
How to get the Poké Flute in Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen
Acquiring the Poké Flute takes a bit of time and will force you to take on quite a few battles. For those wishing to bypass this part of the game and move on with the story, you will disheartened to learn that you must wake up Snorlax to further move the plot of both FireRed and LeafGreen.
So, how do we get this Poké Flute? Well, you must rescue Mr. Fuji, who is being held hostage by Team Rocket at the top of the Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town. However, you can not directly make it to the top of the tower once you enter Lavender Town for the first time. On the second to last floor, you will encounter a spirit that will not let you pass.

This is where things get complicated.
You must then head West to Celadon City, where you will have to find Team Rocket’s hideout. The hideout is located in the city’s Game Corner, where you will see a Team Rocket Grunt standing by a poster. Defeat the Grunt in a battle and then click the switch located behind the poster. This will unlock a secret passageway.
After navigating through the entire hideout, you will encounter Giovanni, who will challenge you to a battle. Once he is defeated, he will give you the Silph Scope, which is a device needed to see spirits and ghosts.

I’m sure you can guess what’s next.
Use the Silph Scope at the top of Pokémon Tower to reveal a Marowak, defeat (or catch) the Pokémon and move on to the final floor to save Mt Fuji, who will then head to his home just South of the tower. Head there to get the Poké Flute.

Once he has given you the flute, go to Snorlax and play it in front of him. This will wake the Pokémon up, forcing you to battle him.
You will only encounter Snorlax twice in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the other time being on Route 16. If you are hoping to catch the Pokémon, you will want to do so then, as once its defeated it scurries up into the mountains.
