The much-loved Pokémon Applin is finally coming to Pokémon GO.
The wait is over! Applin, Flapple and Appletun are coming to Pokémon GO during the Sweet Discoveries event. This is a very exciting debut for a much loved Pokémon, and brings with it an exciting new evolution mechanic as well.
The event also has some excellent bonuses including boosted shiny odds on a range of different Pokémon both in Eggs and the Wild.
Here's everything coming with the event you need to know.
Sweet Discoveries event in Pokémon GO
The Sweet Discoveries event in Pokémon GO runs from Thursday, April 24, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
Event Bonuses
Here are all the event bonuses avaliable during those dates:
- 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Delibird and Shiny Skwovet.
- Increased chance to hatch Shiny Delibird, Shiny Cherubi, and Shiny Skwovet.
- Catching Delibird or Skwovet will award Berries.
- Increased chance for apples to appear at Mossy Lure Modules.
- 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance for first three Eggs hatched using the Pokémon GO Egg hatching widget.
Make sure you have the Egg hatching widget installed ready for this event to take advantage of the bonus. Shiny Cherubi is also a very rare shiny, so that would be a great thing to hatch from Eggs during this time.
Applin comes to Pokémon GO during the Sweet Discoveries Event
Applin, Flapple and Appletun are all debuting into Pokémon GO during this event. These Pokémon will have a brand new and unique evolution mechanic. You can use 200 Applin Candy and 20 Tart Apples to evolve Applin into Flapple or 200 Applin Candy and 20 Sweet Apples to evolve Applin into Appletun.
Apples are a brand new item in Pokémon GO, and will work like the PokéBalls we saw on April Fools Day. You'll need to find Apples around the map and click on them to either get Sweet Apples, Tart Apples or encounters with Pokémon.

The event will see a takeover of the 7 km Egg pool in Pokémon GO. The following Pokémon will be in 7 km Eggs during the event:

Other event details
As well as the usual event-themed Field Research Tasks, PokéStop Showcases and free Timed Research there is also a paid Timed Research.
This Sweet Discoveries Pokémon GO Paid Timed Research will be priced at $1.99. It will contain the following:
- Two Mossy Lure Modules
- Encounters with event-themed Pokémon, including Delibird, Skwovet, Applin, and more!
Those Mossy Lure Modules will be key for gathering Apples, which are the key to evolving Applin.
