We knew that Trading was coming to Pokémon TGC Pocket, but we now have more details.

The Pokémon Company have released more details about the upcoming trading feature in Pokémon TGC Pocket. There has been very little shared about the feature, which is set to release later this month. While we are still waiting on full information about the feature, today has seen several highlights shared.

Trading is one of the most anticipated features in TGC Pocket, given it is a very popular aspect of the physical game. Everyone has memories of swapping physical Pokémon Cards with their friends at School when they were younger. Thankfully, you'll be able to that in the digital version soon.

Here is everything shared today about the trading feature.

New details revealed about Pokémon TGC Pocket trading

Trading was confirmed to be coming to the game back in November. This was not a big surprise, given trading is in the name of the game! The feature releases initially later this month. The feature will be expanding after that, with more cards being able to be traded over time.

Today, as part of the new information shared, we now know which cards will be able to be traded initially. Here are all the details shared in the update:

  • Trades can be done between friends.
  • Trades can be done with cards of the same rarity.
  • At the time of the trade feature’s launch, certain cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island booster packs will be able to be traded. We are planning to continue to expand the selection of booster packs that you can trade from.
  • Cards with a rarity of ◇1–◇4 and ☆1 can be traded.
  • Items must be consumed in order to trade.

There are two big takeaways there. First, that only certain cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island booster packs will be able to be traded. We don't know exactly which cards yet, so stay tuned for more information on that.

Trading will require an item

The second big takeaway is that trading in Pokémon TGC Pocket will require an item. That will limit the number of trades players are able to do. We are lacking details on what that item will be, and how you get it.

There has already been a lot of complaints about this requirement. However, in the update today the Pokémon Company say that they are going to be monitoring player feedback on the trade feature. So, if unpopular, this might change in the future.

We will continue to provide all of the latest Pokémon TCG Pocket news, updates, and guides!
