Pokémon TCG Pocket is about to get some OP Mega Pokémon!
At the closing ceremony of the Pokémon World Championships 2025, The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara announced that a Mega Evolution–themed set will launch this fall for Pokémon TCG Pocket.
Shortly after Ishihara’s reveal, the official Pokémon YouTube channel posted a video showcasing some of the must-see Mega Evolution cards from the upcoming set.
The arrival of Mega Evolution Pokémon to TCG Pocket mirrors its tabletop counterpart, as Pokémon TCG is also about to welcome its new set of Mega Evolution cards with the Mega Evolution set, also scheduled for release next month.

A first look at Mega Evolution cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket
The trailer only revealed three cards featuring the Mega Evolved forms of Altaria, Blaziken, and Gyarados. Their designs are pretty much similar to the Mega Evolution cards of the physical Pokémon TCG with their dynamic artwork and the “Mega Evolved” label.

The new Mega Evolution cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket will have a unique rule box, despite being named as Pokémon ex. When a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex is Knocked Out, the opposing player takes three points, which effectively ends the match in their favor.
Although knocking out a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex results in instant victory, taking one down won’t be easy. Two of the Mega Pokémon revealed in the trailer boast base HP over 200, making them the first cards able to withstand Genetic Apex Charizard’s Crimson Storm — the most powerful attack in the game.
Mega Evolution Pokémon are often tied to devastating moves that demand huge Energy costs. But Mega Altaria ex and Mega Blaziken ex break the mold, unleashing heavy damage with attacks that only need two Energy. Mega Gyarados ex isn’t far behind, either — its Mega Blaster can one-hit-KO many Pokémon in the meta while forcing opponents to send three cards to the discard pile.
When will the Mega set be in the game?
The Pokémon Company provided no details about the set’s actual schedule of release as of writing this article. Since the trailer described the set as “coming this fall," we can expect these Mega Evolution Pokémon to debut in late August, based on Pokémon TCG Pocket’s release pattern, or in early September.
